We start tour by Istanbul Archaeological Museums, which is housing various artifacts from civilizations that had left their traces to different periods of the history. Museum is one of the 10 most important world-class museums designed and used as a museum building. Additionally, it is the first institution in Turkey arranged as a museum. Besides its spectacular collections, the architectural aspects of its buildings and its garden are of historical and natural importance.

The Istanbul Archaeological Museums has a very special place concerning the Turkish museology, due to the diversity and richness of its collections and since it was established as a result of the westernization movements that had marked the last century of the Ottoman Empire. The famous painter, curator and archaeologist Osman Hamdi Bey, who became the director of the museum in 1881, extended the collections of the museum through excavations carried out in different sites within the borders of the empire and he was able to bring the Istanbul Archaeological Museums to European standards. Sculptures from the Ancient Age from the Archaic Era to the Roman Era may be seen, and worldwide famous unique artifacts such as the Alexander Sarcophagus, the Sarcophagus of Crying Women and the Sarcophagus of Tabnit that came from the Royal Necropolis in Sidon .

The collections of the Tiled Kiosk Museum consist of about 2000 artifacts belonging to the Seljuk and Ottoman eras, dating from the 11th-20th centuries. These artifacts include those that existed when the museum was incorporated into the Istanbul Archaeological Museums due to its closeness and those acquired through excavations, purchases, donations and confiscations.

Turkish and Islamic Art Museum is the first Turkish museum covering the Turkish and Islamic art works wholly. The establishment works that have been started at the end of the 19th century have been completed in 1913 and the museum has been opened for visit in the soup kitchen building located in Süleymaniye Mosque complex, which is one of the most important works of Mimar Sinan, with the name of "Evkaf - ı Islamiyet Müzesi" (Islamic Foundations Museum). After the announcement of the republic, it has taken the name "Turkish and Islamic Works Museum". The carpet section forming the richest collection of carpet art in the world had a separate importance and caused the museum's being famous as a "Carpet Museum" for long years. The museum has the richest carpet collection of not only Turkey, but also the world. You can also see Metal Art , Wooden Art , Stone Art and Glass Collections.
